Bush Onion Dreaming. Maureen has painted her version of the tiny bush onion, smaller than a fingernail, which grows in sandy soils in the desert, usually near rocky outcrops. The centre circle represents a physical site in the desert where the bush onion ancestors stopped during their epic travels. The contours surrounding the circle represent the sandy soil. At the edges the onions are shown in small pockets in the soil. The crosses are the holes left where the onions have been extracted.
